Carers Champion and Dementia Friend

Carers Champion

Amanda (Mandy) Mason is our Carers Champion at the practice.

If you are a carer please let any member of staff know and we will add your details to our register with your permission.  Mandy is able to help you with  general carers information and is able to refer you to Compass Carers, they support carers across Somerset.  The link below will access their website where you are able to self refer.  It is very important to support our carers to keep them well as they are doing a very important role.

Mandy is part of a local area group of Carers Champion that get together four times a year for training and they arrange two events a year for our carers.

The next

Carers Champion Event

will be on

  Thursday 17th March 2016

at The Town House, 19 Union Street, Yeovil BA20 1PQ

Each practice that has a Carers Champion has a carers board in their practice which has all local events, carers groups and information.

Dementia FriendDementia Friends

Amanda is also our Dementia Champion/Friend.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

Whether you attend a face-to-face Information Session or watch the online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
