Appointments
Who do I see?
Routine appointments
Routine appointment requests (appointments that can wait) can be submitted online or by telephone.
The Patient Services Team will ask you questions to make sure your appointment is booked with the right person, for the correct amount of time.
We use a combination of appointment types depending on the situation, for example face to face, or telephone.
Online services should only be used for non-urgent queries
You should always call 999 in an emergency as we are not an emergency service.
Why are the Patient Services Team asking me more questions?
Our Patient Services team are trained to know who is the best person to help you. This is not always a doctor.
Their role is to find out about your particular problem and book you with the most appropriate person.
The more information you can give them, the more likely you will be booked with the best person to help you and for the correct amount of time.
This really helps us to use our resources carefully and maximises the availability of appointments for all patients.
All our staff are trained to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Administration information – For Fit Notes, Nurse Appointments, Repeat Prescription Requests, a simple query or update for the GP, simply submit your query via our website and the Patient Services team will be able to help you with an online response.
Urgent Appointments
If you have an urgent medical problem please call our Patient Services Team on 01935 474353
Urgent appointments are for same day medical issues. These appointments will be booked with the most appropriate clinician for your medical issue.
You should always call 999 in an emergency as we are not an emergency service.
Out of hours
If you need medical help and your GP practice is closed, you can call NHS 111. You can call 111 any time of the day. The call is free, from landlines and mobiles. When you call 111, an adviser will ask you questions to find out what’s wrong and give you advice or direct you to the appropriate service.

Extended Access
To help patients access services, the practices in Yeovil working under the umbrella of Yeovil Primary Care Network (YPCN) are offering enhanced hours service between Monday – Friday 18:30-20:00 p.m. and Saturday 09:00 until 17:00 p.m. This service will provide a blended approach between individual clinician and health coach appointments and individual, group and online appointments to a community physical activity service. The community offer will be provided in leisure centres and community locations and provide relevantly qualified community professionals.
SASP – Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership are working with Yeovil PCN to provide the community physical activity service and our physical activity health coach appointments. These will be provided on a Saturday and some evenings.
You can book individual clinician appointments by talking to the receptionist at our practice during opening hours or mentioning online your preference. Our physical activity options will allow us to offer a free of charge group GP referral service (presently a paid for service by patients) and we will be working with SASP to identify and offer this to appropriate patients.
As part of the service, Yeovil PCN are also providing Covid vaccination clinics (for eligible patients). If you believe that you are eligible for an appointment, please contact the National Booking Service online or by telephoning 119.
These practices form part of Yeovil Primary Care Network :
Hendford Lodge Medical Centre & Abbey Manor Surgery, Yeovil
Penn Hill Surgery, Yeovil
Preston Grove Medical Centre, Yeovil
Symphony Healthcare – Oaklands Surgery & Ryalls Park Medical Centre, Yeovil
Home Visits
If possible please try to telephone before 11 a.m., and give the receptionist as much information as possible. A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound due to illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the practice.
