Temporary Registration

UK citizens

If you are in the area for a short time and require medical treatment you are able to register with this practice as a temporary resident. This gives you the same access to general medical services as registered patients but either for a period of 24 hours up to 15 days, or between 15 days and three months.

If you are going to be in the area for longer than three months you should register fully with a GP.

If you are registered with another practice locally it is essential that you attend your own practice where your medical notes are available.

With the ability to send an electronic prescription to anywhere in the country any prescription requests and queries should be directed to your registered surgery. This would also be the case for an online or telephone request for care as this is carried out remotely.

Overseas visitors

If you’re in England for a short visit but need to see a GP for something that wont wait until you return home, you can register as a temporary patient for immediate necessary care.
You need to be in the area for more than 24 hours but less than 3 months.
Treatment will be free of charge, but you may be required to present your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if you have one.

More information can be found on the NHS website

Please note the surgery is not an accident and emergencies department and in the event of an injury the patient should be taken straight to a hospital in Taunton or Yeovil.

Named GP

All patients in the practice are registered with the practice and allocated to a named (usual) GP. If you would like to know who your named GP is please ask a member of staff to look this up for you when you are next in the surgery. You can also see this on your repeat request prescription form.
