Appointments

We are in the process of changing our appointments system to an online system. This will go live on 11 July.

As a stepping stone to the new system we have had to stop booking appointments ahead but this is a temporary arrangement. 

A new icon will appear on this website soon to allow you to register for our new online appointments service called AskMyGp. This should allow you access to a GP online throughout the working day. If you register for this service you will no longer have to wait in a telephone queue!

Telephone Advice
Your doctor will be happy to give you advice on the telephone when he/she is not consulting. The receptionist will ask you to leave a message and the doctor will return your call when time permits.

Out of Hours                               If you require urgent medical attention outside surgery opening times. Please call the NHS 111 Service. This free to call number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Test Results
Please telephone the surgery after 9.30am for your test results

Our team of nurses offer:

  • asthma_inhalerAsthma & COPD clinics - providing annual checks on all aspects of your asthma & COPD care. Our nurses are able to offer up to date information and advice.
  • Diabetic Clinics - Providing those important annual checks and advice.  
  • General health advice and health checks - blood tests, injections, blood pressure checks, ECG's, ear syringing, dressings and post operative wound care and suture removal.
  • Learning disability, Hypertension, and dementia health checks. foot checks and annual chronic disease follow ups.

Diabetes 

Your Annual Group Health MOT

We are changing the way we deliver our diabetes health checks. Instead of a 30-minute appointment we are moving to a 90-minute health MOT. This will be delivered in a group setting once a year. This will enable you to priorities your health. Our group clinics will run instead of our one-to-one reviews,

What does your Annual Group Health MOT involve?

  • The  group session will run for 90 minutes.
  • You will get a chance to ask lots of questions.
  • Within the group session you will still have your individual annual review with the nurse.
  • You will learn a lot from the other patients in the group and you can support each other.
  • Someone else might ask a question that you also wanted to know, and you will learn from other people’s experiences.
  • We will add your recent test results to a results board and discuss these in a group setting giving you lots of opportunities to ask questions and get support where needed.
  • You will be able to agree what you want to improve going forward writing your own care plan.

Group consultations are proven to enhance the experience of your review whilst encourage & motivate you in your diabetes journey.

Some examples of this are that patients report: -

  • Feeling more listened to and less rushed.
  • Improved access and spending more time with their clinician.
  • Better understanding of their condition.
  • More involved in their decisions.
  • Cope better with their condition.
  • Gain from other patients experiences and share problems/successes.
  • Peer support from others with diabetes.
  • A sense of belonging, acceptance, and unity through a common goal
  • Hope from seeing patients at different stages of a condition.
  • A forum for problem solving.

Group clinics are not new, they were started back in 1905 and have also been used extensively over the last 20 years. The patients that attend group clinics have much better control of their diabetes and a better understanding of how they can improve their health.

Of course, when required, patients receive one to one care alongside group clinics. This includes when they need a physical examination that could not be undertaken in a group. You will also still meet one to one with the Health Care Assistant for your bloods and other checks.

Family Planning

We offer family planning and advice, including coil insertions, implants and smears, coil checks and contraception advice. 

Minor Surgery

Certain minor surgical procedures & joint injections can be performed by the doctors at the practice. Your doctor will refer you, and reception will send you an appointment.

Vasectomy Services 

We are pleased to offer a Vasectomy Service at the practice for all patients in Somerset. We are really pleased to offer this service and Dr Rob Munro has many years experience in this area of care.

Everything takes place in the surgery with a counselling session , followed up at a later date by the procedure in our Minor Ops Room. If you would like to request a referral please initially ask for a routine appointment with your Doctor and they will be able to make a referral for you to the service.  

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided by the doctors are not paid for by the NHS. These include HGV licenses, insurance forms etc. The receptionist will be able to advise you what the fee is, which will be payable on collection. Please allow a minimum of 3 weeks for completion of these forms.
